I worked with a hip hop group in town called Triiibe from 2019-2021. The group had been doing community work for 5 years already. They had strong community programs like Potluck 4 the People and Triiibe Drive that they had been running for 5 years, but they didn’t have their tax exempt status and consistent dollars coming in to the organization.
Volunteer Talent Sourcing
I helped them standardize volunteer operations by creating an onboarding process and typical roles people could fill. They had a lot of experience training people on site so that was less of a challenge. I helped create a volunteer on boarding process in a way to continuously manage volunteers outside of the existing socials, which could still be used because I knew that we needed to create some semblance of community with volunteers. I did this by working with the team to document standard volunteer onboarding and creating a method for making sure the volunteers that did show up were able to represent the organization well. We did this by creating a FB group to manage communication. There are a lot of communication platforms out there, but you want to be responsive to your community and realistic about adoption for these platforms.
Managing a Budget
I wrote a few grants that helped secure funds for a community garden in downtown Cincinnati through the City of Cincinnati and the United Way. These funds helped us solidify work that the group has been doing for years to come.
Strategic Partnership Development
I helped facilitate partnerships that the organization was considering and preparing the group for risks, mission and values alignment. This helped ensure the groups Triiibe affiliated themselves with added to the brand and helped keep the mission moving forward. I’m proud of what I worked on with tribe foundation because funds that I secured and programs I helped incubate are still in action at their garden in Cincinnati:
