Sourcing Facilities for a Mobility Justice Coalition
When phrie shared her vision for the Rites & Ways network with me, I knew I would be the one to help. She had a big vision for environmental and mobility justice organization. After assessing the plans, I knew we would need a strategic partner with physical space. Permaganic has had a transitioning leadership team for years and I knew the capable leadership of Valley Folk Studios so I made the connection and brokered the transition of leadership which has given Valley Folk Studios the much needed space to incubate Rites & Ways. By facilitating the partnership between Permaganic and Valley Folk Studios, I helped give Permaganic the space to focus on what they did well and Valley Folk Studios could leverage that space for larger impact.
I know the importance of a coalitions needing space because I led the coalition turned network Remake Project and Precious Plastic Cincy. Over four years, we incubated multiple projects with the university of Cincinnati DAAP program partnership with several professors.
One of those reasons we had success, was access to space.
To have a physical space where people can touch and feel concepts is empowering. You can’t forget the wonder of seeing someone pick their own strawberry out of the garden.
